Growing up in
Perranpoth, Cornwall Rob naturally gravitated to surfing
along the 5 miles of sands. Quickly graduating to local and
national competitions Rob was one of the best surfers of his
generation, eventually moving away from competitive
surfing towards travel and big wavesurfing.
Surfing and
surf-related work have taken Rob all over the world,
including doubling for Ewan McGregor in the Channel 4
production Blue Juice (filmed in Lanzarote and Cornwall),
fronting Red Bull’s Local Hero tours in Portugal and South
Africa and numerous magazine trips. In 2002 Rob was (with Dr
Tony Butt) the first European invited to an international
big wave event, Big Wave Africa, in Cape Town.
Rob now concentrates
on surfing around his adopted island of Lanzarote,
especially a couple of mysto big wave spots. When conditions
allow he also enjoys tow surfing, kitesurfing and stand up
paddle.
